The Hot Water Machine

The hot water machine The story(ok, I also don't know why I chose that) So, recently, I told my mom that was scared of fire, but generally, wanted to help make breakfast, so my mom bought it. More on it I was pretty happy, and it also explained to me why my grandmother always liked to buy "kitchen appliances", I also used it a lot, and actually really liked it, it also really helped, because sometimes I would want a drink, but there wouldn't be anyone around, so I could just use the hot water machine. With the joy of discovery ~ Nicodidiary

The Call With Grandma(on my mum's side)

The call with grandma(on my mum's side) At first it was okay, my mom and grandma were talking about what the news said yesterday(it always played at 8:00) and my mom was saying something when the call was ended, at first me, my mom, and my brother thought something had happened to them or there was something wrong with their internet, but after we called all their contacts, we knew that grandma was angry, but we didn't know angry about what, or why she was angry, finally my grandpa picked up the phone, we found out it was what my mom had said, but my mom was just concerned for them and , not to mention, my grandma didn't even give my mom to say sorry, plus she had apparently been doing this to my mom since she was small even until she went to college, it seems never stop even until now my mom became a mother herself. and this time she also did it in front of me and my brother, too. I hope this doesn't happen to you or your relatives or friends much, and best, never at...

My Young Entrepreneur X Factor

Young Entrepreneur "X" Factor (YEX) The YEX is generally a pitching(on the presentation side, not exactly throwing ) session, to present a business idea. There are prizes for first, second, and third places, plus runners up, including scholarships and for certain ones of them prize money. I joined because of three reasons, firstly, my brother joined last year, and I was eager to participate, but was too young. secondly, I had decided on an idea and also really liked it, since it was related to a problem in my country and some other countries, too. and thirdly, I wanted to use the prize money to make my idea real(though it may just be enough for seed money). As for my idea, I've deciding to keep that a secret within some of my family members for now because if anyone else knows it may not have as much of the "wow effect" on/for the judges . With determination and a sprinkle of stubbornness ~ Nicodidiary

My Brother's 3D Modelling Workshop!

My Brother's 3D Modelling Workshop!   Today marked a special day — the launch of my brother’s  very first 3D modelling workshop. He was the instructor, and it  was an event filled with excitement and anticipation. The first  batch of classes filled up instantly, showcasing the enthusiasm of  the participants. But my brother did not stop there; he decided to  open a second batch to accommodate more eager learners, and  it quickly filled up too! Finally, my brother opened up another slot  and he was running three workshops accommodating students  from Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Australia. To celebrate this fantastic start, my family and I gathered  together for a delightful treat of pizza and a movie. It was a  moment of togetherness and joy. I felt a sense of importance  and value because my brother included me during the  workshop introduction. Not only that, but I was also his very first  student when...

My Parents'-Teachers' Day

My Parents' ~ Teachers' Day  Let me tell you all about my Parent-Teacher’s Day and how  it unfolded. It was a mix of what I expected and some delightful  surprises. First of all, there were a few good comments that surpassed  my expectations. It made me feel really proud of my efforts. On  the other hand, there were also areas where improvement was  needed, just as I had predicted. I knew I had some areas of improvement needed but I  did not take action on it. One thing you should know about me  is that I like to have a good reason for doing things. So when  my teacher asked me to work on certain aspects, it was a good  enough reason for me. It was also the first time my dad joined the Parent-Teacher’s  Day, which made it extra special. Even though it was only my  second Parent-Teacher’s Day, having my dad there made it even  more memorable. I was overjoyed to receive positive comments and recognition  for my hard wor...

My Greatest Fear

M y Greatest Fear What is my greatest fear? You know, I have quite a few fears, and they can be pretty scary (well, most of them). It is hard for me to pick just one as my greatest fear because they all feel important in their own way. But if I had to choose, I guess it would be the fear of being left out, especially by my family and friends. Sometimes, I get this feeling that my mum and my brother are teaming up against me (just a little bit), and it makes me feel like I am all alone in this whole universe. To overcome this fear, I have my own secret weapon — positive thinking! I remind myself that even if it seems like they are not including me, we are still in this together. It works like magic almost all the time, maybe 99.9% of the time. So, I would say it is pretty reliable. Now, let me share with you a list of some other things that make me a bit scared. Here are a few things that give me the shivers: • Stage fright (sometimes) • The dark (it can be a little silly, but it is oka...

My Hydroponics Set

My hydroponics set During the MCO, that is the  Movement Control Order when we could not travel much  because of COVID-19. But since we could not go out, we turned  our balcony into a mini hydroponic farm! We planted tiny seeds  in some cube-shaped sponges with H-shaped holes, neatly  arranged in a metal frame with water inside to grow the plants. We watched happily everyday as the seeds sprouted  and grew into delicious greens. Not to mention, the first batch  flourished! They tasted so yummy, and it felt great to know that  we made it happen (in sponges!). Unfortunately, the stormy  weather in Malaysia made it hard to continue, as the wind and  rain would blow the sponges out of their metal frame and uproot  the plants every time. But hey, at least we had the experience of  that first batch! With a touch of nature ~ Nicodidiary

The Hardest Thing That I've Done

The Hardest Thing That I've Done I want to share with you the  hardest thing I have ever done. It  was like diving into a sea of mixed  emotions and swimming against a  strong current. Picture this: I had to make a  presentation about the danger our oceans are facing (I wrote a chapter  earlier about that). It was a topic close  to my heart, but it also made me feel  scared, nervous, and very anxious. All  those emotions were swirling inside  me, like a whirlpool of thoughts and  feelings. I was really confused as these thoughts and feelings  streamed into my mind, but deep down, I knew that I had to  do it. It was not just a feeling so it could not get mixed up, and  it was not exactly a happy thought either, so I could not scold  myself for being happy. It was a mixture of determination and care for our beautiful  ocean. These two forces, working together in my head, helped  me find the courage...

Why I Wake Up Earlier Than Anyone Else In My House

Why I Wake Up Earlier Than Anyone Else In My House. The Early Bird Catches the Adventure! Hah, you caught me! Now you discover that I would secretly wake up earlier than anyone else in my house Most of the time, I wake up early because I cannot resist the temptation of a good book. There is something magical about getting lost in the pages before the hustle and bustle of the day begins. But sometimes, I have other reasons too! One special reason is that I like to prepare breakfast for my brother (since my mom does not eat much, about one or two meals per day, the rest is mainly coffee) . This is a way for me to take care of my family. As I tiptoe around the kitchen, the house is still and peaceful, and I cannot help but smile at my sleeping family members. Another reason is the beautiful view from the living room. I love to sit quietly and look through the glass sliding doors of the balcony. There, I witnessed the beautiful sunrise, painting the sky with vibrant colours. It was like a ...

Going The Extra Miles

Going The Extra Miles Let me tell you about one of my experiences of going the extra mile. It started with a school coursework for my Chinese/Mandarin class. Our teacher asked us to create our own zoos (not real ones, of course!). Now, I was not a big fan of handwriting or drawing by hand (and I still don’t particularly like it, I think I mentioned that before). So, at first, I thought of making excuses like “Oops, I lost my coursework" or “Sorry, my half-done drawing got thrown away, can I have more time?" But then I remembered something. I had taken a class on 3D modelling! So, I decided to give it a try. It was challenging to get everything just right, and it took me several hours instead of the usual thirty minutes or an hour. I even worked on it a bit the next day because I needed some sleep too. Finally, I ended up with a 3D modelled zoo(I still have the model!), featuring notes on each animal with their name in Chinese/Mandarin words and their pin-yin. Plus, since I of...

My Average School Day

My Average School Day Well, you know me as a worldschooler, and yes, I do go to school from time to time. So, have you ever wondered, what a school day looked like to me? Let’s see if it sounds familiar to you too. My school day usually starts with a regular class, not a sports class, unfortunately. We are all still a bit sleepy and groggy, so you would not find us bouncing off the walls with enthusiasm just yet. But do not worry, we will wake up eventually! As the morning progresses, the second class brings a bit more energy. If it happens to be a sports class, well, let's just say our enthusiasm might not be at its peak. But we give it our best shot and have fun along the way. After all, sports classes are all about teamwork and getting our bodies moving! After a few more classes, it is time for lunch, which is always a highlight of the day. Well, now that we are doing online classes, things have changed a bit, but you get the idea. Lunchtime is when we can chat and laugh with ou...

If I Could Turn Back Time

If I Could Turn Back Time Now, I want to share with you a moment that made me realise the importance of honesty and accepting the past. Let's dive into this heartfelt journey together. It all started when my mom got really angry. It felt like she had transformed into a completely different person, and I did not like the condition and circumstances that came with it. I felt lost and unsure of what to do. If I could turn back time, the first thing I would change is not covering up for my brother. You see, that was when I started getting curious about playing video games too. The second thing I would do differently is not lying to my mom so much. If I had been honest, this whole situation might never have happened. My life could have continued as it was, and I get to keep my mom exactly my mom that I love and proud to have ever since.  But what was done is done, and my mom was changed. It is moments like these that taught me the importance of honesty and not hiding the t...

My Ideal Day

My Ideal Day I want to take you on a journey into my ideal day—the kind of day that fills my heart with joy and wonder. Are you ready? Let's dive in! Now, some of my friends might wish for endless video games and sunshine, but my “Ideal Day" is a little different. First and foremost, there would be no Covid (can we please make that happen?). Picture this: I am cozily nestled at home, with a gentle drizzle of rain outside my window. Ah, the sound of raindrops tapping on the glass—it is music to my ears. On this magical day, I would be surrounded by books, maybe curled up in a cosy nook near the window. I might also feel inspired to write a new article or dive into some Scratch Programming. And guess what? Every now and then, my friends would pop over to my house. It is like having surprise bursts of fun and laughter right at my doorstep! It is amazing how these things just come together so naturally. It is not too much to ask for, right? Well, except for the no Covid part—let...

Kind Of Short Summary Why I Started Blogging

Kind Of Short Summary Why I Started Blogging When my mom first suggested that I give blogging a try, I must admit, I was not too excited. I thought: “meh, just another assignment”. But as I started delving into the world of blogging, something magical happened—I began to love it. It turns out, my mom knew me better than I knew myself. My passion for blogging varied depending on what I chose to write about. I discovered that when I wrote about the things I loved the most, my motivation soared, pushing me to continue. Of course, there were days when I did not feel like blogging, so I took a few breaks. But every time, without fail, I found myself returning to it. That was the essence of my blogging journey. There are three specific reasons why I fell in love with blogging. Firstly, I adored the sensation of the keys beneath my fingertips. It felt like I was tapping into a world of possibilities with each stroke. Secondly, I secretly yearned for a new laptop or computer, and I must say, n...

Addiction

Addiction Welcome back to my world! After we explored the fascinating realm of decision-making, now, let’s get ready to dive into another intriguing topic: addiction. It is like stepping into a junction where choices have a powerful hold on us all the time. You see, addiction is this sneaky feeling that pulls you back for more after you have done something once. It is like a magnet that keeps drawing you in, making you feel like you just have to do it again and again. Now, there are good addictions, like having a passion for something. That is when you just cannot get enough of doing something you love. But then there are bad addictions, and I will not mention which ones, but they include certain apps, games, ads, and even substances like alcohol and drugs. They can be really tricky and not so good for us. What effects/side effects might a bad addiction inflict? Let's take a closer look at the effects and side effects of these bad addictions. When you have been hooked on somethin...

Decisions

Decisions Now that you get to know me a little better, I would like to invite you to step right into my world, where decision-making takes the stage every second, minute, and hour. It is like entering a bustling junction, filled with choices waiting to be made. Should I eat now? Should I get up? These decisions seem to unfold effortlessly in the realm of our subconscious. But guess what? My mom recently taught me something incredible—I can make these decisions all by myself! It took some time to figure out the how, and yes, I still sometimes make impulsive choices and do impulsive things. But you know what? I have been growing and learning along the way. It has not been easy, but I am proud of how far I have come. I have discovered that sometimes, it is important to pause and think before making a decision. Sure, I have not been perfect, but hey, I have given it my best shot! That was why I have decided (another decision, yay!) to share some tips with you for making decisions, especial...

Marine & ocean life

Ocean in danger! What could an 8-year-old kid possibly talk about ocean and marine life? Well, I can talk about the ocean and marine life for ages! It might seem surprising, but trust me, there is a whole ocean of knowledge to dive into, and I have gathered most of it right here in this article! The DANGER our oceans are facing From a kid's perspective, I have to say, it is kind of silly how we make products that do not break down easily (even the ones labelled as biodegradable might not fully decompose unless they are under very certain conditions). We throw them into the vast ocean, disturbing the peace of a world that has been around since the beginning of Earth. it is quite silly, do you think not? Now, I may not have seen all the incredible creatures with my own eyes, but sometimes, believing comes before seeing. And let me tell you, lots of people have seen the facts. It is time we start looking at things from their point of view. I have seen pictures and watched documentarie...

My life as a world-schooler

My life as a world-schooler                                                                                                                          Who am I? Hello! I am Karen, and guess what? I am a cool 8-year-old, just like you, or you once were, anyways! Right now, as I type these words, I am feeling all the excitement bubbling inside me.  I proudly call myself the one and only Justice Bunny, on a mission to fight the mighty enemy called climate change, also known as global warming (I will tell you more about it later!). But that is not all! I wear many hats in my little world. I am a maker, which means I love creati...
