Marine & ocean life
Ocean in danger!
What could an 8-year-old kid possibly talk about ocean and marine life?
Well, I can talk about the ocean and marine life for ages! It might seem surprising, but trust me, there is a whole ocean of knowledge to dive into, and I have gathered most of it right here in this article!
The DANGER our oceans are facing
From a kid's perspective, I have to say, it is kind of silly how we make products that do not break down easily (even the ones labelled as biodegradable might not fully decompose unless they are under very certain conditions). We throw them into the vast ocean, disturbing the peace of a world that has been around since the beginning of Earth. it is quite silly, do you think not?
Now, I may not have seen all the incredible creatures with my own eyes, but sometimes, believing comes before seeing. And let me tell you, lots of people have seen the facts. It is time we start looking at things from their point of view.
I have seen pictures and watched documentaries about marine and ocean life. The contrast between the vibrant, beautiful colors and the plain white skeletons of corals and fishes is astounding. It breaks my heart to think that we have caused harm to such a magnificent ecosystem. We need to take action and restore our oceans to their once vibrant and colorful state. Without the ocean, our world would dry up, and our days would be numbered. We cannot let that happen!
So, let's be smart, not silly. Let's make changes, big and small, to protect our precious oceans. Together, we can bring back the beauty and ensure a brighter future for our planet.
Believe me, guys (and girls!), it is worth it!
How do I know how much of this is true?
Well, I have got my own ways of figuring things out!
Whenever I ride on a sea transport, I make it my mission to look out and count how many pieces of debris have found their way into the ocean. Can you believe it? Usually, there are about 25 pieces! And if you add that up over time, it is like several hundred! That was a lot, right?
Oh, and let me tell you about Earth Hour! It is this amazing event where everyone turns off their taps and switches off all the lights. But you know what? It only happens once a year! So, I had this idea. What if we did it once a month or even once a week? Imagine how much energy we could save! But the thing is, I did not know how to share this idea with others. It was like a light bulb moment that I could not switch on!
I was so, so shocked when I found out that 90% of my classmates did not even know what Earth Hour was!? Oh my goodness! That was another reason I decided to write this book, to spread awareness about important things like marine and ocean life. But you know what? Earth Hour can benefit other areas too! It is like a superpower for our planet!
Now, let's get back to the debris and trash I saw in the ocean. It made me realize that we have to do something about it, but I was not sure what. So, being the curious explorer that I am, I came up with a list of ideas that I think might help. Check it out:
Let's expand Earth Hour and make it even more awesome!
Say no to disposable or one-time-use products. They are like sneaky little troublemakers for our environment.
How about creating special areas in buildings where things can quickly biodegrade? We can gather everything that needs the right conditions and put them there. It is like a home just for quick biodegradation!
We need to spread awareness further and make sure everyone knows about the importance of taking care of our oceans.
Let's get more people involved and do something about it. Together, we can make a big splash!
We should find alternative ways to transport oil instead of using sea transport. Let's keep our oceans clean and oil-free!
And here is an important one. We all need to reduce the amount of plastics and one-time metals we ourselves use. Even small changes can make a big difference!
So, let's put these ideas into action and make a positive impact. Remember, even tiny little me can come up with big ideas. Together, we can protect our oceans and make our world a better place!
Why these might help
You have discovered some awesome ways to make a difference, but now let's find out why these actions are so important. Get ready for some “why-spiration"!
Expanding Earth Hour is not just about turning off lights and taps. It is a superhero move that saves energy and water. Can you imagine how much we can reduce our carbon footprint? It is like giving the Earth a big, refreshing drink of sustainability!
Stopping one-time use products is like saying “no more" to ocean pollution. By using reusable items, we can keep tons of debris and trash from finding their way into the ocean. It is a small step that can make a huge splash in protecting marine life!
Creating special areas in buildings where things biodegrade quickly is like having a secret superpower. It ensures that harmful microplastics do not make their way into the ocean. It is like having a superhero team that fights pollution!
Spreading awareness is like casting a magical spell. It helps people learn and understand the importance of taking care of our oceans. When more people know, more people can join the mission to protect our watery wonders. Together, we are unstoppable!
Stopping the use of sea transport to export oil is like putting on an invisible shield to protect our oceans from oil spills. By finding alternative ways to transport oil, we can keep our seas safe and our marine friends happy. It is a powerful move for a cleaner and safer ocean!
Reducing the amount of plastics and one-time use metals might seem like a small change, but it is a giant leap for our planet. Even by cutting down just one to two percent of pollution, we are making a positive impact. It is like being a superhero in disguise, fighting pollution one step at a time!
So, remember these “whys" as you take action. Each choice you make has the power to protect our oceans, preserve marine life, and create a brighter future for our planet.
Keep the ocean alive, Keep everyone alive!
