I have a dream
I have a dream
“I have a dream.
Would you like to support me?”
You know, when I meet wonderful people like you, they
always ask with curiosity, “What is your dream?”
Well, I have always been a worldschooler from Hong Kong
(you can read more about it in stories 4 and 5 in the Special
Chapter if you are still curious). But when I joined an international
school in Malaysia, it was like a breath of fresh air for me. Finally,
I did not have to constantly wonder what to do or go here and
there. The teachers took care of everything, and it felt so easy
and comforting.
Going to school became a simple way to learn and have
a daily routine. And being the curious person I am, I started
thinking about life after school. Where do people go? What lies
ahead? So, I asked around, did some research, and discovered
the exciting world of high school and universities.
My family and I embarked on a journey, exploring different
countries as we continued our worldschooling adventure. During
one of our trips, we stumbled upon a magnificent campus —
none other than the renowned Oxford University! It was like a
dream come true to walk through its halls and catch a glimpse
of what university life could be like. I fell in love with everything
about it. It is not just a regular campus; it is like a vibrant little
town, bustling with people, students, professors, and tourists.
Every corner holds a treasure trove of knowledge waiting to be
discovered.
That is when I knew — I wanted to be a part of it. I want
to study Archaeology and Anthropology at Oxford University.
You might be wondering, what makes a little girl like me
want to dig up dusty ancient history? Well, if you have been
following my previous chapters, you might feel that I am an
8-year-old girl but not quite an 8-year-old girl. Sometimes, in
this big, beautiful world, I feel like a time traveller, an old soul in
a young body. I often feel like I do not quite belong here. Have
you ever felt that way too?
I find myself daydreaming about ancient times and
mysteries, but at the same time, the feeling of being displaced
in time scares me. So, my dream is to study the Archaeology and
Anthropology course at Oxford and become an archaeologist,
uncovering the secrets of my own roots.
Now, I am on a mission to save up and fund my university
fees through this book and another special project called “KaTY
Bear” (which I will share more about another time, perhaps in
another book).
Every page I write, every adventure I embark on, brings
me closer to turning my dream into reality. It is an exhilarating
journey, and I am filled with determination to make it happen.
With enthusiasm in my heart and a pen in my hand ~ Nicodidiary
