Baking Alone(almost)
Baking Alone(almost)
Have you ever taken a bus all by yourself, with no adult by
your side? Do you remember how old you were when you had
your very first unsupervised bus adventure?
Oh shoot! It’s rare these days for children to experience
public transport on their own. But let me tell you, I absolutely
love it! Even if it’s just a short trip near my house, it feels like a
grand adventure filled with endless possibilities and the chance
to meet new people.
For me, my thrilling bus adventure took place when I was
a mere 6-year-old in a charming Swiss town. And you would not
believe it, but I embarked on this daring journey with none other
than my best friend, who was also just a 6-year-old like me.
So, how did this incredible feat come to be? Well, it
happened during one of my worldschooling trips to Switzerland.
My brother, my mum, and I were staying with another
worldschooling family who were our dear friends. One day, my
best friend and I decided to learn to bake a cake together. My
friend’s mum sent us in her car on her way to work. We bravely
set off, just the two of us, to embark on this sweet mission to
learn baking from a friend’s friend. According to my friend, she
is a very talented baker in this town and she loves children.
When we arrived at the baker’s house, she kindly prepared
the table for us and offered us some delicious apples and apple
juice. I could not resist cracking a joke and said, “I think I will
have the juice straight from the apples, thanks!” We all shared
a good laugh. We even had the opportunity to play some fun
board games while we waited for our host to finish setting up.
Once everything was ready, we eagerly began assembling
the layers of our magnificent rainbow cake. With the baker’s
guidance, we carefully stacked the colorful layers, creating
a masterpiece of confectionary delight. When the cake was
complete, she thoughtfully packed it in a box for us.
And then came the exciting part. It was time for my best
friend and me to make our way back home on the bus, all by
ourselves. I must admit, I was initially quite scared. But now,
as I look back on that thrilling moment, I can say it was an
experience that was truly, truly fun!
So, there you have it — my daring bus adventure at
the young age of six. It was a memory filled with excitement,
independence, and the joy of exploring the world on my own.
